the Android handsets is shown off by Huawei earlier in this month. One of those devices was the Huawei IDEOS X5. The company did not reveal the entire features of the upcoming device at the time. Now, the company has just released the specs of the device.

The Huawei IDEOS X5,  runs on  Android 2.2 Froyo, will come with a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800×480 and support for multi-touch.With 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p video capture capabilities.

You will be getting A-GPS, an integrated compass and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity with A2DP. It also features a 3.5mm audio jack, along with support for Flash Player 10.1.

The ViewSonic has unveiled its latest Android device,With 4.1-inch viewpad 4.Table device with smartphone functionality,Viewsonic Viewpad 4 run Qualcomm’s 1GHz MSM8255 processor,angular Froyo handset with an 800 x 480 resolution, 5 megapixel camera ,capable of 720p HD video , 2GB of ROM, and either 512MB or 1GB of RAM.WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1.

The view sonic viewpad 4 is releasing somewhere around the mid-June,priced according to carrier whim.

BlackBerry 8980 Folks By FCC

 

The BlackBerry 8980 has been outed by the good folks at the FCC.  Likely the sequel to the Curve 8900, the 8980 is packing quad-band GSM/EDGE radios, a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, optical trackpad, a physical QWERTY keyboard, and the usual Bluetooth/WiFi trimmings you'd expect in a smartphone.
The last time we saw the 8980, so it's good to see the 8900 successor show its face once again.  The 8900 was one of the more handsome handsets made by RIM in recent memory, and the 8980 seems like it's going to be a looker, too.  It's tough to tell right now, but judging by the FCC's photo of the device, it looks like RIM took the Bold 9700/9780's body and bolted a Curve keyboard on it to make the 8980.  There's no word on which carrier(s) will launch the 8980, but as with most GSM 'Berries, it's probably a safe bet that both AT&T and T-Mobile will be on board.Add 3G, though, and they've got a desperately-needed new model to slot in underneath the Bold.The Curve 8980 doesn’t run BlackBerry OS 6, but OS 5. Of course, RIM might want to update the handset’s OS sometime after launch (or even before it).

AT&T now cover 80% of network now ugraded to HSPA+

 

 

Ever since T-Mobile started referring to their new HSPA+ network as America’s largest 4G network we have been wondering if anyone was going to challenge them on that statement. At first AT&T said T-Mobile had their 4G numbers wrong. Then T-Mobile responded on Facebook and launched a new commercial which claims their network is faster than AT&T.

Now AT&T is back at it again claiming their HSPA+ network is just as fast as T-Mobile and it covers more people. Speaking at the Sencha Conference in San Francisco this week, AT&T CTO John Donovan said they have been adding more backhaul and 80% of their 3G network has been upgrade to HSPA+. By the end of the year, AT&T expects to cover 250 million POPs with HSPA+ – more than the 200 million T-Mobile is aiming for.

Dell's Stage UI headed to Streak

 

The first time the words "Stage UI" passed our lips, they were in relation to the Dell Thunder leak , but now we're hearing that Dell's custom Android user interface will actually appear alongside Android 2.2 when the update finally arrives on the five-inch Streak. We've just learned that's going to happen this winter in Japan when the Streak launches on SoftBank at the very least, as both are advertised for early December there, but we expect we'll see the updated OS even sooner in the US and Europe for obvious reasons. What's more, an unofficial build of Froyo that leaked out for the Streak last month has since been found to have Stage UI on board. StreakSmart's got a video of a custom ROM running a series of Dell-specific widgets on the Streak, and sister site Good and Evo managed to trick the very same software to run on a rooted HTC EVO 4G. You can see examples of both on video after the break, but here's the basic idea behind the UI -- giant panes of contacts, apps and shortcuts that fill an entire screen each, but leave your app drawer accessible at a swipe. Vodafone UK launches Smartphone Professional service

 

 

Vodafone, one of the UK’s largest networks, has launched a smartphone security service aimed at business professionals. The aptly named service — Vodafone Smartphone Professional — will allow for companies to manage sensitive corporate data remotely without interfering with employee’s personal content. The service will provide IT administrators with an online portal to tweak, remotely wipe and encrypt data over the air.

Verizon trials unlimited text and data cellular plans for preferred customers, starting at $70 a month

 

 

Verizon's pushing tiered data plans in public, but it's simultaneously expanding its unlimited offerings behind closed doors -- yesterday, the wireless carrier launched a promotional plan with 450 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data for $70 a month. Before you jump at the chance to lower your monthly bill, however, we should warn you that this is very much a limited trial: Verizon will check its computers to verify that you were sent a promotional email before letting you into the deal. Furthermore, the offer doesn't ring up as a new plan in Verizon's computer system, but rather an amalgam of the company's existing $60 Talk and Text plan and its $30 unlimited data plan, with a $20 credit applied to your bill each and every month. The upside of that is that selected customers can basically add unlimited data to any Talk and Text plan they choose for an extra $10 monthly, but the downside is that it's far too early to call the promotion a portent of things to come. HTC Legend getting Android 2.2

 

 

HTC has confirmed that it will release a Froyo (Android 2.2) update for unbranded HTC Legend handsets within the next couple of weeks.

In a message to its Facebook fans, the mobile phone company says it has been working hard to get it sorted and that fans shouldn’t have too much longer to wait:

You might have noticed in our Galaxy Tab review that a number of pretty significant Android apps failed to scale to fully utilize its real estate, leaving an unpleasant black border surrounding their content. Well, you can now take that issue off your list of cons for this otherwise delectable tablet as our buddy JKK has figured out a way to overcome the scaling problem. Using Spare Parts, a free app available in the Android Market, and a couple of reboots, he was able to convince the Engadget app to run in full screen on the Tab. He's right in guessing that we'd be happy about that, though we imagine owners of Samsung's slate will be the ones with the biggest grins on their faces right now. Samsung will unveil their latest flexible 4.5-inch AMOLED displays at the Flat Panel Display Convention in Japan. These new display panels are said to provide the same vividness and crispness as those used on the Galaxy S series smartphones. The new flexible AMOLED displays can bend and wrap around without distortion or breaking, and could possibly open up the gates to new forms of consumer electronics devices and applications. Dell ditches BlackBerry in favor of Windows Phone 7

 

 

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Dell CFO Brian Gladden announced that the company would be replacing current employee phones with its own devices. According to Gladden, approximately 25,000 Dell employees will soon ditch their BlackBerry smartphones in favor of company issued Dell Venue Pro handsets. The Windows Phone 7-powered Venue Pro won’t be employees’ only option, however, as Dell will also soon offer Android devices to its employees. Beyond obvious reasons for the switch — Dell competes with BlackBerry maker RIM now that it is in the cell phone business — Gladden also claims the company will save roughly 25% on communication costs by eliminating the need for BlackBerry servers. Dell’s push to move people from BlackBerry devices to its own line of handsets isn’t just internal, either; the company plans to offer services to its business customers within the next two weeks that will assist them in transitioning from BlackBerry phones to Dell’s own devices. As to what Dell plans to do with 25,000 soon to be unused BlackBerrys, Gladden joked that the company is toying with the idea of selling them on eBay.
